Barclyne College International organised a Leadership Camp on Friday, 28th February 2014 for the O Level and General English students to hone their leadership skills in a fun and inspiring manner. The camp provided students with the opportunity to espouse the college’s values as leadership requires one to demonstrate the right attitudes such as integrity, openness, creativity and responsibility.
The camp kicked off to a high with an upbeat vivacious welcome to students as they entered the hall. Group tasks were apportioned which helped students prove their leadership skills through delegating responsibilities to fulfil task requirements within the allocated time-span. The inspirational sharing by the Principal, Mr Jackie Liu, further aroused students when he challenged them to learn from great leaders with proven track records of success.
The continuous array of stimulating tasks and puzzles galvanized students to work as a team to overcome physical, intellectual and psychological challenges. These activities were interspersed with presentations on famous leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Margaret Thatcher by “O” Level students.
The camp’s guest speaker A. Professor Yau gave a fascinating talk on the attributes of a great leader. Students were involved not only in a variety of exciting activities given by Prof. Yau, but also had role-playing in groups to apply what they had learnt.
Students gave a big thumbs-up at the end of the camp. They appreciated not only the activities and talks, but most importantly, they learned a range of leadership qualities and attributes that would empower them for success for the rest of their lives.
